Job overview An exciting opportunity is available for the right individual to join Digital Services at NUH. We are seeking an exceptional candidate to develop the role of Digital Services Commercial Officer within our Strategy and Commercial Team. We are looking for a strong individual who will play a key role in supporting the Digital Services Strategy Team and support the business and financial management of the Digital Services Department. The post may be offered at a band 4, to a suitable candidate that does not meet the essential criteria, with the opportunity to move up to a band 5 once essential criteria have been met. The team will support with training and development of the successful candidate to assist with attaining the band 5.
Main duties of the job In addition to the brief list above you must familiarise yourself with the full job description and person specification attached to this advert prior to applying. Manage the Digital Services Contracts Renewal Process. Maintain and improve the accuracy and detail of the contracts dataset held by the Digital Services Commercial and Strategy Team. Carry out service reviews with Digital Services suppliers and further develop the existing process for service reviews. Raise complex orders on behalf of Digital Services DMT. Lead on the completion of monthly reports on contracts, ordering, budget status and team performance. Carry out complex analysis on contracts, orders and financial data. Develop new processes and work to improve existing processes for data management and reporting. Manage the training budget for Digital Services and act as the main authoriser and contact. Support the Commercial Analyst with new developments, changes in procedures and various projects. Complete FOI requests relating to Digital Services contracts. Act as a knowledgeable point of contact for financial matters and
departmental processes. Act as a key point of contact for resolving ordering and invoicing issues. Provide training, mentoring and coaching of junior staff. Have expert knowledge of the Trust\xe2\x80\x99s financial systems. Have excellent knowledge of all the Microsoft products, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Working for our organisation The candidate will be joining the rapidly developing Commercial and Strategy Team, based within Digital Services. We are keen to get the best out of staff and there are a number of development and progression opportunities within the team. This role will be moulded to the right candidate in order to best make use of their skills and play to their strengths. The post holder will predominantly be based at the City Hospital campus, but will be required to travel between all NUH sites in Nottingham and on occasion travel off site to other Health Service Organisations and external suppliers. In undertaking this role, the employee will be expected to conduct themselves professionally and courteously at all times, consistent with and actively supporting the Trust values which are listed below.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities The candidate will report into the Commercial and Contracts Admin Manager and will be required to support the team with new developments, changes in procedures and various projects. The candidate will be expected to oversee the contracts renewal and management process for Digital Services to ensure the timely renewal of contracts. This will involve, liaising with key stakeholders to ensure the needs of the department are met and the appropriate procurement processes are followed. The candidate will need to ensure that the data surrounding the contracts is maintained accurately and develop processes to ensure the details are kept up to date. The candidate will also be expected to complete relevant contract documentation in order to support the Procurement Department with renewals. The candidate will also be required to carry out service reviews for contracts with suppliers to ensure the relevant SLAs and KPIs are being met. The candidate will be expected to develop systems to monitor performance and build on the service review process to ensure the relevant information is obtained and can be analysed for reporting to senior members of staff within Digital Services. The candidate is also expected to lead on the completion monthly reports as well as ad hoc reports on contract spend, ordering and team performance using PowerPoint. This will involve carrying out analysis with Excel and liaising with members of staff within the team to provide the necessary information. The candidate should be able to produce trackers and dashboards within Excel to aid in the development of the reports and manage relevant data. The candidate will be required to have a strong working knowledge of the Trust\xe2\x80\x99s financial systems to allow them to raise orders on behalf of Digital Services DMT, identify and resolve issues with orders and invoices and act as a key point of contact for any queries relating to ordering, receipting and invoicing. They should also be able to provide training and mentoring to junior staff on these systems and financial matters. The Commercial Officer is also accountable for the Digital Services staff training budget. The candidate will be required to collate training requirements for Digital Services staff from senior managers and liaise with training suppliers to obtain best value for these requirements within budget. They will also be required to oversee the training booking process and resolve any issues that arise.
The candidate should be able to use their own initiative to improve processes and develop complex systems to aid the wider team and Digital Services department. The right candidate will enjoy working autonomously in a fast paced environment, prioritising their own workload and achieving deadlines. Experience

  • Experience of managing large budgets, including pay, non-pay and capital.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of IT software including Excel, Word and Project.

  • Current and thorough knowledge of NHS accounting systems and practices.
