Overview
We are seeking an experienced
Commercial Plumber
to join our facilities maintenance team, supporting a portfolio of
council-owned properties
across the Stoke-on-Trent to Leicester region. This role focuses on planned preventative maintenance (PPM), responsive repairs, and ensuring the safe and effective operation of
district heating networks, hot water systems, and HVAC infrastructure
.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out
planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
and routine inspections across commercial and public-sector buildings.
Complete
reactive plumbing repairs
, fault finding, and system diagnostics on a range of commercial water and heating systems.
Maintain, repair, and install
district heating systems
, hot water plant, pumps, valves, pipework, calorifiers, and associated equipment.
Support the servicing and maintenance of
HVAC systems
, ensuring compliance with operational standards and safety regulations.
Work collaboratively with the wider facilities and engineering team to meet service-level requirements.
Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with
health & safety legislation
and company procedures.
Provide clear documentation, job reports, and compliance records following each task.
Deliver excellent customer service to council representatives, tenants, and stakeholders.
Skills & Experience Required
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing & Heating (or equivalent trade qualification).
Proven experience working in
commercial plumbing
or building services environments.
Strong understanding of
district heating
, hot water systems, and general mechanical plant.
Experience with
PPM schedules
and mobile facilities maintenance work.
Full UK driving licence (company van provided).
Ability to work independently, manage workload, and communicate effectively.
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
Experience working on
local authority or housing stock
.
Basic HVAC knowledge or mechanical engineering background.
Gas qualifications (e.g., Commercial ACS) - advantageous but not essential.
