Role Overview
EP Power Minerals is seeking an experienced Commercial Project Manager to join its established team at Drax Power Station in North Yorkshire. This role is predominantly office-based and is suitable for candidates within a reasonable commuting distance of the site. The successful applicant will be responsible for comprehensive Commercial Project management across engineering, construction, process manufacturing, and other industrial operations.
The Commercial Project Manager will work in a small team of skilled professionals and lead in cost management, contract administration, procurement, Commercial Project reporting, and risk mitigation across multiple UK and international projects.
Essential Criteria
Applicants must clearly demonstrate the following:
Minimum 10 years' experience in a Senior Quantity Surveyor, Cost Engineer, or equivalent Commercial Project role within construction, engineering, or manufacturing.
Demonstrable experience preparing and submitting applications for payment across a broad range of contract forms, including but not limited to:
NEC4 (A,B,C options) ECC, ECSC, PSC and PSSC predominantly
FIDIC Yellow Book
Model Form (MF/1 or similar)
Relevant degree qualification (e.g., Quantity Surveying, Commercial Project Management, and Engineering).
Proven experience in dispute resolution processes, including negotiation, early warnings, compensation events, claims management, and Commercial Project settlement.
Experience in main and subcontract procurement, including drafting, negotiation, Commercial Project evaluation, and supplier relationship management.
Capable of preparing monthly internal cost forecasts, CapEx estimates, cashflow projections, cost plans, and Commercial Project dashboards.
Experience in tender production, tender assessment, Commercial Project evaluation, and recommendation reports.
Working technical knowledge of civil, mechanical, electrical, and building engineering in an industrial environment.
Strong understanding of Commercial Project risk mitigation techniques, contract compliance, and change management.
High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), with the ability to develop structured reports and cost models.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare professional documentation in clear English.
Ability to work autonomously while collaborating with colleagues and consultants in Construction, engineering, operations, project management, and senior leadership teams.
Desirable Criteria
Chartered status or working towards chartership (RICS, CIOB, MICE, CICES or similar).
CSCS card (professionally qualified person or equivalent).
SMSTS, SSSTS, IOSH Managing Safely, or similar site safety qualification.
NEC4 accreditation or formal training.
Experience in stakeholder management, supply chain engagement, and cross-functional leadership.
Experience working within heavy industrial, power generation, minerals, aggregates, environmental, or process engineering sectors.
Competence in Commercial Project software systems (e.g., CEMAR, ACONEX, FASTDRAFT, SAP, or equivalent).
Knowledge of quality management processes (ISO 9001), procurement regulations, and audit requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Full Commercial Project oversight of projects and operational activities across the EP Power Minerals development construction portfolio as defined.
Lead preparation and submission of all Commercial Project documentation, including applications for payment, variations, compensation events, and Commercial Project notices.
Manage contracts in accordance with NEC4, FIDIC, MF/1, and bespoke contract forms, ensuring compliance with obligations and timescales.
Support the development of tenders, Commercial Project offers, and project proposals.
Prepare cost reports, CapEx assessments and justifications, cash flows, and forecasting data for senior management.
Lead procurement activities from enquiry through to contract award.
Support dispute resolution, negotiation of final accounts, and Commercial Project settlements.
Conduct risk reviews, maintain risk registers, and support mitigation strategies.
Liaise with internal engineering, operations, finance, and SHEQ teams.
Represent the business professionally at client, supplier, and stakeholder meetings.
Support continuous improvement, Commercial Project governance, and compliance frameworks.

Working Conditions
This is a full-time, site-based position located at the Drax facility. Remote working is not applicable due to the nature of the role. Occasional travel within the UK and internationally may be required for supplier visits and offsite project activities. You will work in a collaborative environment under the guidance of the Construction Manager.
Contract Details
This is a permanent, full-time role. Engagement may be structured either through a limited company arrangement or as a fixed-term contract, depending on individual circumstances. Reasonable expenses incurred during offsite work will be reimbursed at cost.
