Key Responsibilities in Commercial Property Law

Managing a broad and varied caseload of commercial property matters, including acquisitions, disposals, landlord and tenant matters, leases, renewals, property finance, and development transactions. Drafting and negotiating commercial leases, sale and purchase agreements, licences, and supporting documentation, ensuring compliance with firm procedures and legal best practice. Providing clear, practical, and responsive legal advice to commercial clients ranging from SMEs to larger corporations, from initial instruction through to post-completion. Carrying out thorough title reviews, searches, due diligence, and dealing with Land Registry applications and enquiries to resolve issues effectively and efficiently. Building and maintaining strong relationships with business owners, in-house counsel, agents, lenders, developers, and third parties to progress matters proactively. Recording all client activity clearly on the case management system in compliance with regulatory (SRA, AML, GDPR) and internal requirements. Contributing positively to the wider property team through knowledge sharing, supporting colleagues, and assisting with development of junior team members where appropriate.

Essential Skills and Experience for Commercial Property Solicitors



A minimum of 3 years' experience handling commercial property matters as a solicitor, legal executive, or CILEX with a track record of managing cases from instruction to completion. Sound technical knowledge of all aspects of commercial property law, including leases, freehold/leasehold sales and purchases, landlord and tenant matters, and development work. Demonstrable ability to draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts and leases with strong attention to detail and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong commitment to exceptional client service and developing professional relationships. Proficient IT skills, particularly with case management systems and Microsoft Office. Adaptable to both in-office and remote working environments. Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a supportive team.
