As one of two Commercial Retail Managers, this position has shared responsibility for maximizing the performance and income generating the potential within retail. You will deliver the plans by motivating colleagues and volunteers to deliver against clear objectives and financial targets. You will enjoy delving into the data to identify opportunities to boost sales and mitigate risks.

About the role
An exciting new opportunity to join our Retail team within an outstanding hospice has opened. We are looking to recruit an additional Commercial Retail Manager to help drive growth in the hospice's income and profitability across our retail portfolio. You will be responsible for the operational delivery of the organisation's ambitious plans to increase profitability, to fund the care of terminally-ill people in our community.
You will work with retail managers to develop their annual plans to grow sales and increase profitability, using sales insights to identify focus areas of opportunity and risk, as well as making sure that colleagues and volunteers are well informed about the retail strategy, operational objectives and targets. You will be responsible for monitoring performance of all retail areas, against agreed financial and non-financial KPI's, updating and presenting regular management information to senior leaders as required.

Essential criteria for the role
Strong retail experience at senior management level
Commercial/business awareness
Budgeting and financial planning experience
Proven experience of implementing and inspiring excellent standards of customer service
People management experience. Managing, leading, and developing colleagues and volunteers.
Proven track record in driving sales income and controlling costs and budgets
Ability to work collaboratively internally and externally, including with senior management teams.
Track record of successfully managing a retail portfolio
Current knowledge of all aspects of a retail business, trends and legislation

We are a loyal team of passionate retailers, driven to maximise sales and profit which makes an important contribution to funding end-of-life and palliative care for local people.
We work across a portfolio of 15 shops (including eBay) each of which has paid colleagues who are supported by a loyal army of invaluable volunteers.
Whilst our Retail Managers are supported to maxmise on the sales of their individual shop, team work is key to maximising overall sales; ensuring we attract high quality donations, which can be distributed across our portfolio to optimise their sales value.
