About the Role



Do you have the skills and drive to be part of an awarding winning, innovative procurement team within Local Government?

The Commercial Services Team at Powys County Council is a well-respected team, which works closely with service area colleagues to drive improvement across the full Commercial lifecycle. The team has already made big improvements including establishing a new Commercial Performance and Risk Board, has introduced a new contract management improvement programme and is also a noted leader in delivering on the Council's Climate and Nature Emergency objectives, which was recognised in the Team winning Sustainable Procurement Awards at the national GO Awards Wales in 2023 and 2024. With these improvements, and more to follow, we are now looking for a Commercial Specialist to join the team and make a major contribution in our development. You will need to be an innovative procurement professional, one that is creative and can challenge past practices through good relationship management, and used to working in a dynamic, high performing commercial team. You will be experienced in practical Public Procurement and have the skills and experience to lead on key tender projects in categories such as construction, transport, waste etc.

The role is a flexible worker position and therefore the Council offers the opportunity to work in an agile way to include home working. For this role, however, there will be an expectation to work in County Hall in Llandrindod Wells for key meetings and events, normally around once or twice a month. The post also offers excellent training opportunities with the post holder to commit to undertake and complete CIPS training, all funded by the Council.

Pay: 40,777.00-42,839.00 per year
