The role

As a Commercial Specialist, you'll be at the heart of our mission to support the Royal Navy's submarine programme. This is a dynamic and rewarding opportunity to influence high-value contracts, drive strategic commercial decisions and contribute to national defence. You'll be part of a growing team, working on complex bids and proposals that shape the future of our operations.





Day-to-day, you'll be part of the Commercial team who is supporting contract management of the principal submarine contract which requires the processing of contract changes, providing advice on the contract, setting up Non-Disclosure Agreements, supporting internal and external meetings, working with Finance to provide accurate forecasting and taking time to develop yourself with training and support to meet your commercial competencies.




Managing and coordinating bid proposals through the Babcock Gated process Providing strategic commercial advice and ensuring compliance with procedures Leading commercial aspects of equipment purchases and refurbishments Collaborating with Project Managers and stakeholders to align commercial strategies Developing tools and processes to enhance commercial operations




This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office / onsite and 3 days working from home.

Essential experience of the Commercial Specialist

Proven experience in commercial management, contracts and project proposals Familiarity with gated project approval frameworks Strong analytical and negotiation skills Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities Strategic mindset with a track record of successful project contributions

Qualifications for the Commercial Specialist

Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Engineering, Business, Law or Accountancy (preferred but not essential) Professional membership of WCC (World Commerce and Contracting) is desirable

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
