We are seeking a part-time highly organised and detail-driven
Commercial Technical Assistant
to support our commercial and site teams in delivering high-quality groundworks projects across the South-West. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical awareness, excellent administrative skills, and an interest in construction, civil engineering, or quantity surveying.
You will work closely with Quantity Surveyors, Engineers, and Site Teams to ensure accurate documentation, smooth commercial processes, and effective communication across projects. This role is part-time and the hours worked can be flexible.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Support
Assist Quantity Surveyors and Estimators with measurements using drawings and specifications.
Support commercial reporting processes, including monthly valuations, cost tracking, and forecasting.
Compile and review subcontractor and supplier quotations.
Assist with preparation of tender documents and tender submissions.
Help administer procurement processes, including issuing enquiries and maintaining procurement schedules.
Technical & Document Control
Read and interpret construction drawings to support commercial and technical queries.
Maintain accurate project documentation, including drawings, records, site diaries, and change control logs.
Update drawing registers and ensure correct issue of revised drawings to teams.
Administrative & Coordination Duties
Provide general administrative support to the commercial and project teams.
Organise meetings, prepare minutes, and track actions.
Support the preparation of project handover documentation.
Assist with compiling health, safety, and quality documentation where required.

Skills & Experience Required
Essential:
Strong organisational and administrative skills.
Ability to interpret technical drawings (training can be provided).
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and general office software.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable:
Experience in construction, groundworks, civil engineering, or a related commercial role.
Familiarity with estimating or quantity surveying principles.
Experience with document control systems or project management software.
