Salary: 38,000 - 42,000 per annum

Location: St Athan, South Wales

Hours: Full Time, Permanent

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Commercial Gas / Mechanical Engineer to join our on-site maintenance and small works delivery team at Ministry of Defence facilities in South Wales area. The role covers planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, fault diagnosis, statutory compliance, and minor project works on commercial heating and mechanical building services.

You will be working in a secure environment with a professional engineering team, supporting a wide range of technical assets including commercial gasboilers, pressurisation units, pumps, BMS, heating systems, and associated plant room equipment.

Key Responsibilities

????o?????Carry out PPM and reactive maintenance on commercial gas and mechanical systems in accordance with MoD and statutory standards

????o?????Fault diagnosis and repair to commercial boilers, burners, heating circuits, pumps, valves, pipework, calorifiers, AHUs and associated systems

????o?????Ensure all plant rooms and mechanical assets are maintained safely, efficiently, and to industry standards

????o?????Complete gas safety checks, testing, purging and commissioning where required

????o?????Maintain accurate job records, service sheets, and compliance documentation

????o?????Respond to breakdowns and urgent callouts in line with contract SLAs

????o?????Support small mechanical projects, replacements, refurbishments or remedial works

????o?????Work safely within JSP / MoD procedures, site rules and permit processes

????o?????Liaise professionally with the client, end users and site management

????o?????Participate in an out-of-hours callout rota where required

Qualifications & Experience Required

Essential

????o?????Commercial Gas qualifications (COCN1 or CODNCO1)

????o?????Additional relevant elements such as CIGA1, ICPN1, TPCP1/1A preferred

????o?????Time-served or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering / Plumbing & Heating

????o?????Experience working on commercial gas and LTHW systems

????o?????Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills

????o?????Full UK driving licence

????o?????Ability to obtain MoD Security Clearance (SC)

Desirable

????o?????Domestic gas ticket (CCN1)

????o?????LPG qualification

????o?????Experience working in secure or defence environments

????o?????PASMA/IPAF/Confined Space etc.

????o?????Experience with minor mechanical install/project works
