The Old Ship Hotel is looking for an enthusiastic Commis Chef to join our team for the busy Christmas season. This is a fantastic opportunity for a budding chef to gain hands-on experience in a professional kitchen, working alongside a talented team during one of the busiest times of the year. You will play a key role in supporting kitchen operations, preparing dishes to our high standards, and ensuring guests enjoy a memorable dining experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation
: Assist in the preparation of ingredients and dishes under the supervision of senior chefs, following hotel standards and recipes.
Station Assistance
: Support various kitchen sections as needed, ensuring readiness for service and helping maintain efficient workflow during peak hours.
Quality Control
: Ensure that dishes are prepared to the required quality and presentation, checking for taste, texture, and appearance.
Cleaning & Hygiene
: Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to health and safety standards and assisting with end-of-shift cleaning tasks.
Learning & Development
: Take advantage of this opportunity to learn from experienced chefs, gaining skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations.
Skills and Qualifications:
Previous experience in a kitchen environment is desirable but not required; a passion for food and cooking is essential.
Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high culinary standards.
Good organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and follow instructions accurately.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including holidays, Christmas, and New Year's Eve.
