We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Commis to join our culinary team in a vibrant restaurant environment. The Commis will assist in food preparation and production, ensuring that all dishes meet our high standards of quality and presentation. This role is perfect for individuals looking to develop their culinary skills while working alongside a chef with decades worth of experience in a fast-paced kitchen learning how to make classic dishes from scratch and "the proper way". Duties
Assist in the preparation of ingredients and dishes according to established recipes and standards.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
Support senior chefs in prepping, cooking and plating dishes during and out with service times.
Help with inventory management by checking stock levels and reporting shortages.
Participate in kitchen team meetings to discuss menu changes, special events, and operational improvements.
Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely service.
Learn various cooking techniques and kitchen operations to enhance culinary skills.
Skills
Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant environment is advantageous but not essential.
Knowledge of food safety practices and hygiene standards is crucial.
Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
Basic culinary skills, including food preparation techniques, are preferred.
A willingness to learn and take direction from senior chefs is essential.
Good communication skills to effectively interact with team members.
Ability to manage time efficiently and prioritise tasks during busy service periods.
