Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Commis to join our small kitchen team. As a Commis, you will play a vital role in supporting the kitchen operations by assisting in food preparation and ensuring that all food safety standards are upheld. This position is ideal for individuals looking to develop their culinary skills in a fast-paced and dynamic environment within the hospitality industry.

Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation of ingredients and dishes according to established recipes and standards. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen workspace, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations. Support senior kitchen staff in food production tasks, including cooking, plating, and presentation of dishes. Help supervise junior kitchen staff, providing guidance and support as needed. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations and timely service delivery. Participate in inventory management, including stock rotation and reporting shortages to the head chef. Uphold high standards of hygiene and sanitation throughout the kitchen at all times.

Qualifications

Previous experience in a kitchen environment is preferred, ideally within a restaurant or hospitality setting. Strong understanding of food safety practices and regulations. Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to work collaboratively under pressure. Basic knowledge of food production techniques and culinary skills. Leadership qualities with a willingness to help supervise and mentor junior staff members. A passion for cooking and a desire to learn from experienced chefs in a professional kitchen environment. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as required by the business.
