Job Description

The Commis Chef is an entry-level position in the kitchen and provides essential support to the culinary team. You will work under the direction of the Sous Chef or Head Chef, assisting with food preparation, maintaining kitchen hygiene, and ensuring smooth operations in the kitchen. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills in a professional kitchen and advance in the culinary industry.

Key Responsibilities:



Food Preparation:

Assist in the preparation of ingredients, sauces, stocks, and garnishes as per the menu specifications. Ensure that all ingredients are prepped in accordance with recipes and restaurant standards. Support the kitchen team with mise en place for daily service.

Cooking:

Cook and prepare food in designated sections of the kitchen, ensuring consistency and quality. Work with the team to ensure that food is prepared and presented per restaurant standards.

Cleaning & Maintenance:

Maintain cleanliness and organization of your station and kitchen area at all times. Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient working environment. Help with the cleaning of kitchen equipment and utensils after service.

Stock Management:

Monitor stock levels and communicate with senior kitchen staff regarding inventory needs. Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing food supplies.

Team Support:

Work in close collaboration with fellow chefs and kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations. Follow instructions and provide assistance to senior kitchen staff as directed.

Learning & Development:

Continuously improve your culinary skills through on-the-job training and mentoring by senior staff. Maintain a willingness to learn and stay updated on new techniques and kitchen practices.

Qualifications and Skills:



Basic culinary education or equivalent experience in a professional kitchen environment. Strong passion for food and a desire to grow in the culinary industry. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Good understanding of food safety and hygiene practices. Strong teamwork skills and ability to follow instructions. Flexibility to work during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 31,000.00-32,000.00 per year
