We're looking for a passionate and motivated Commis Chef to join our talented kitchen brigade at the Copthorne Tara Hotel London Kensington.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an aspiring chef who wants to learn, grow, and develop their culinary skills in a fast-paced, high-quality kitchen.

About the Role



As a Commis Chef, you will work closely with our Chef de Parties to prepare high-quality dishes and mise-en-place for service. You will rotate through different sections, gaining valuable experience across all areas of the kitchen, from salads and sandwiches to hot dishes and banquets.

You'll play a key role in ensuring that every plate leaving the kitchen meets our high standards for taste, presentation, and consistency. This is the perfect role for someone who is eager to learn, thrives under pressure, and wants to be part of a supportive and creative culinary team.

Key Responsibilities



Assist the Chef de Partie in preparing mise-en-place and delivering smooth service on your section. Prepare high-quality cold food items including salads, sandwiches, and cold entrees to recipe specifications. Work efficiently to meet portion size, quantity, and quality guidelines. Keep your section organised, clean, and compliant with food hygiene standards at all times. Support in the preparation for banquets and special events. Report any equipment faults or issues to senior chefs. Follow all Health & Safety and COSHH guidelines, maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene. Take part in training sessions to develop your culinary skills and knowledge.

About You



We're looking for a team player who has a genuine passion for food and is eager to learn from experienced chefs.

You will have:

Previous experience in a professional kitchen (desirable but not essential for the right candidate). A strong work ethic and willingness to learn new skills. The ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities. A good understanding of basic food hygiene and safety practices. Enthusiasm, reliability, and a positive "can-do" attitude.
If you're working towards or have completed NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery (or equivalent), that's a bonus -- but we'll also support your training and development.

Pay: 12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 50 per week
