We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Commis to join our culinary team on either a full or part time basis. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in food preparation and kitchen operations, with a keen eye for food safety and quality standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop culinary skills within a professional hospitality environment, contributing to the creation of exceptional dining experiences. The Commis will work closely with senior chefs, supporting various aspects of food production and kitchen management. Applicants must be able to work evenings and weekend!
Responsibilities
Assist in preparing ingredients and dishes according to established recipes and standards
Support the cooking process by following instructions from senior chefs
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations in compliance with food safety regulations
Ensure all food items are prepared efficiently and presented to high standards
Assist in monitoring stock levels and report shortages or discrepancies
Support team members during busy service periods, fostering a collaborative environment
Follow health and safety procedures diligently to uphold hygiene standards within the kitchen
Participate in training programmes to enhance culinary skills and knowledge of food safety practices
Skills
Previous experience in food production, kitchen operations, or hospitality is desirable
Strong understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment
Good organisational skills with attention to detail in food preparation and presentation
Leadership qualities, with some supervising experience preferred
Knowledge of cooking techniques, food presentation, and culinary trends
Experience in restaurant or hospitality settings is advantageous
Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently during peak service times
Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
