We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and a keen interest in developing their culinary skills within a dynamic hospitality environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in professional kitchen operations, working alongside experienced chefs and management. The Commis will be responsible for supporting the kitchen team in preparing high-quality dishes, maintaining food safety standards, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations. Previous experience in food production, restaurant service, or hospitality is desirable, along with strong teamwork and leadership qualities.
Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation and cooking of dishes according to established recipes and standards
Support senior chefs with food presentation and plating
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations in compliance with food safety regulations
Supervise junior staff when required, providing guidance and support during shifts
Ensure all food production activities adhere to health and safety standards
Assist with inventory management, including stock rotation and storage organisation
Contribute to maintaining a positive team environment through effective communication and collaboration
Participate in ongoing training programmes to enhance culinary skills and knowledge
Experience
Supervising experience within a kitchen or food service environment is advantageous
Proven background in food production, cooking, or culinary roles within restaurants or hospitality settings
Experience with food safety protocols and hygiene standards
Familiarity with restaurant operations, including serving and customer service skills
Demonstrated leadership ability to manage team members effectively during busy periods
Prior experience working in a fast-paced kitchen environment is preferred but not essential for entry-level candidates willing to learn
