We are looking for an ambitious chef to come into a team willing to learn and keen to advance in their career.

The Three Mariners has a massive regional reputation for its food, currently shortlisted for 'pub of the year' in Kent life magazine and narrowly missing out on a top spot in the muddy stiletto's awards.

We have a reputation for seafood but offer an exciting mixed menu showcasing the best of British food and some more exotic flavours.

We are looking for someone to join full time and become a third chef in our team, someone who is driven, passionate about food, eager to learn and keen to offer their own ideas.

As a Commis, you will play a crucial role in supporting the culinary operations of our restaurant, ensuring that food preparation and production meet the highest standards of quality and presentation. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about hospitality and eager to develop their culinary skills in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities



Assist in the preparation and cooking of various dishes under the supervision of senior kitchen staff. Support the kitchen team in food production, ensuring all meals are prepared to specification and within set timeframes. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering to health and safety regulations. Help with inventory management, including receiving deliveries and storing ingredients appropriately. Participate in menu planning and contribute ideas for new dishes or improvements to existing offerings. Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations and effective communication during service periods. Supervise junior kitchen staff as required, providing guidance and support to foster a positive learning environment.

Requirements



Previous experience in a similar role within a restaurant or hospitality setting is desired, this can include culinary education rather than work experience. A keen interest in food preparation and production, with a desire to learn and grow within the culinary field. Excellent organisational skills, demonstrating attention to detail in all aspects of food preparation. A proactive attitude towards problem-solving and a willingness to help colleagues as needed. Must be able to easily commute (no live-in position is available) Full time hours, including weekends Flexibility with rotas Chef experience, must have experience in a kitchen or from culinary school

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 10.00-12.50 per hour

Expected hours: 35 - 50 per week
