As part of our kitchen team, you'll work closely with our Head Chef and colleagues across all sections of the kitchen. From food preparation and service to helping design and price seasonal dishes and specials, every day will bring variety. We're also looking for someone who can inspire and support the next generation of chefs. Your enthusiasm, creativity, and leadership will play a big role in delivering exceptional dishes to our guests. We're an independent family-run pub with strong roots in the local community. Once owned and operated by the village, our busy pub is known for its warm atmosphere, beautiful surroundings, and homecooked, fresh food. Our moderately sized kitchen and small, friendly team give you the space to showcase your individuality and cook food that excites you. Working alongside our Head Chef and co-owner, you'll get the chance to hone your craft using modern equipment and techniques.
We open 6 days a week, and offer an exciting starting wage, regular split shifts, and an early finish every Sunday. With up to 48 hours available, you'll have the stability of full-time work and the opportunity to earn well. Join us for a paid trial shift and see what we're all about!
Responsibilities:
Support and lead the kitchen team alongside the Head Chef
Help plan and deliver menus to a high standard
Oversee food prep and ensure food safety and consistency
Manage stock and assist with ordering when needed
Contribute ideas for new dishes and seasonal specials
Keep the kitchen clean, organised, and efficient
Train and support junior team members
Requirements:
Previous experience as a chef (all levels considered)
A positive attitude and the ability to work as part of a team
Strong cooking skills and passion for fresh, seasonal food
Awareness of food safety and hygiene standards
Ability to handle busy services while staying calm and organised
being a quick thinker and adapting easily
Preferred (but not essential):
Culinary qualifications (NVQ or equivalent)
Experience in menu planning and costing
Knowledge of current food trends
