We are now looking for an experienced
Commissioning Engineer
to join our Projects team and play a key role in ensuring our generator systems perform to the highest standards.
The Role
As a Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for testing, commissioning and validating generator systems to ensure they meet design, specification, and client expectations. This is a hands?on, field?based role involving nationwide travel and regular overnight stays.
You will work closely with Design Engineers, Project Managers, and multiple client?side teams to coordinate all commissioning activities, ensuring projects run safely, efficiently and in line with programme requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the principal commissioning engineer on client sites
Coordinate testing and commissioning activities, procedures, and documentation
Attend internal design meetings and collaborate with project stakeholders
Liaise with associated trades including mechanical/electrical engineers, BMS specialists, DNOs, and IT teams
Monitor progress, record and witness testing, and compile documentation for the site test dossier
Ensure safe testing and commissioning of completed systems
Deliver hands?on training and handover sessions to client site staff
Support installations at Shenton HQ and on site when required
Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
What We're Looking ForEssential Experience & Skills
Minimum 3 years' experience as a generator commissioning engineer or similar
Strong practical electrical engineering knowledge of LV power generation and distribution
Experience with high?level control systems such as ComAp / Deep Sea
Competent IT user; able to work with laptop?based configuration tools (e.g., ComAp PC Suite, DSE Configuration Suite)
Experience with multi?set systems, synchronisation with mains, design, installation and commissioning
PLC programming skills
Practical experience in G99 testing
Desirable
CAD qualification or experience
Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification
IEE 18th Edition
CSCS card
Knowledge of BMS protocols (Modbus, Profibus, BACnet, etc.)
