Role Overview
We are seeking a technically competent
Commissioning Engineer
(ideal for a
Field Service Engineer
or
Engineering Technician
) who enjoys hands-on work, site travel, and working on live operational assets. You will commission our smart actuator systems, perform site surveys, and ensure reliable installation and integration of IoT-enabled devices within water industry networks.

Key Responsibilities
Conduct technical
site surveys
, installation suitability checks and produce detailed engineering reports
Commission
smart actuators
, including configuring parameters using proprietary software
Work with IoT connectivity (SIM-based systems, remote monitoring setups)
Prepare, test and verify actuators at our facility prior to field deployment
Coordinate installation schedules with customers, manufacturers and field teams
Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting and commissioning sign-off
Ensure all devices are tracked, labelled, documented and compliant with site standards
Work safely on operational sites across the UK water industry
Technical Skills & Experience
Essential:
Background in
commissioning
,
field service
,
maintenance engineering
, or
electromechanical engineering
Comfortable using configuration software, diagnostics tools or control interfaces
Ability to read technical documentation and understand mechanical / electrical principles
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on customer sites
Excellent communication skills to represent the company professionally
Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
Experience with
IoT devices

Previous work on utility or water industry sites
Familiarity with
industrial actuators

valves

sensors

low-voltage control equipment
Basic understanding of PLC systems (not essential)
Travel Requirements
UK-wide travel to customer sites (company vehicle provided)
3-4 nights away per month
