Wood is recruiting for a Commissioning Lead to support our Systems Integration team within our Digital Consulting business. This position will be for a period of 12 months project specific and can be engaged on a limited contractor basis.
There is a requirement for hybrid working with Tuesday and Wednesday being based out of any of the following locations - Aberdeen, Glasgow or Staines. Occasional travel to the client site is also expected as required.
Please note applicants must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.

The Role
As a Commissioning Lead you will support the Project Construction Manager and the Project Commissioning Manager in the execution and delivery of all aspects of mechanical completion and commissioning.
This position is ideal for someone with prior experience in site commissioning, who demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate with key clients and has a proven track record in supporting the delivery of multiple projects.

Responsibilities
In accordance with CDM regulations provide Pre-Construction support to the project
To study and assess the relevant drawings, specifications, and instruction for the functional area of responsibility.
Coordinate with the design team to enhance the design element and highlight any special recommendations to reduce risk or optimise schedule
Constructively challenge engineering concepts with a view to minimizing shutdown schedule
Input to schedule development, defining execution risks in general, and critical path specific risks during shutdowns
Communicating plan to multi-discipline team and updating the plan based on feedback
Assist with development and management of the Go Technology database, setting up systems, sub-systems, and check sheet allocation
Monitor project sites overall site construction and commissioning priorities by system to ensure project teams meet mechanical completion and commissioning target dates
Develop and maintain Project Skyline and Milestone Chart Reporting
Develop, Write, Implement and Review, update relevant Commissioning Test Procedures and controlling master versions
Understanding overall Commissioning Strategy for project completion
Development of pre-commissioning, commissioning, performance testing procedures in line with National Grid RE-18 procedures
Assist with check sheet inspection/verification
Manage and supervise pre-commissioning, commissioning, performance testing activities at site
In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and emergency systems
Strong understanding of electrical codes, regulations, and standards (e.g., BS 7671, IEC 60364)
Proficiency in conducting functional and performance tests on electrical systems using appropriate testing equipment
Coordinate contractor, subcontractor and vendor activities associated with pre-commissioning and commissioning
Interface with Operations Team in commissioning, start-up, and final handover of the facility/plant
Coordinating field activities through discipline lead positions including Operators, Mechanical, Instruments and Electrical
Monitor Quality in accordance with Quality plan and ITP's
Attend client / vendor meetings in order to achieve the agreed project goals
Input to weekly and monthly reporting
Assist Project Commissioning Manager with management of change
Drive safety leadership and ensuring safe delivery of multi-discipline work scopes
Input to lessons learned
Expected:
Electrical and Instrumentation Controls background in site commissioning with demonstratable experience
Demonstrate commitment to safety through engagement in Commissioning Permit to Work, Electrical Isolation and Safety Work Manuals to ensure efficient and safe execution of the work.
To be conversant with construction/commissioning mechanical completion technology
Must have strong competency in reading design documentation e.g., P&IDs, PFDs, mechanical datasheets etc
Ability to deliver documentation that is technically correct to the required standard and schedule
Understand and control the running of work sites
Must have experience in at least one of the following: Ability to determine pass/fail criteria on UPS testing (ITIC), generators and Switchgear, control narratives, compressor commissioning/startup, turbine commissioning/startup
Experience in Brownfield upgrades / replacement instrumentation and control projects
Experience with dealing with Switch Rooms, Switchboards, Distribution Boards, Lighting, UPS, Instruments, Cable runs, Control rooms, etc
Must have working knowledge of substations and power systems/quality and their associated protection systems such as overcurrent and unit protection and a thorough understanding of harmonics etc
Must have working knowledge of one or more of the following (Flow Computer & Supervisory): Emerson, Siemans, Swinton, Omni, FlowX, EXI, Honeywell (DCS/ Meter suite), PLCs Measurement Technologies, Metering Systems, Flow Computers, PLC & SCADA Systems/Software
Prior experience reviewing and approving commissioning/construction works
Desirable:
Compressor Station/Metering experience is advantageous
