Northgate is a vibrant, multi-cultural primary school situated very close to Crawley town centre. We are growing and currently have 550 children on roll including a maintained Nursery and Specialist Support Centre (SSC). The SSC is led by two Qualified Teachers of the Deaf and a team of specialist support assistants. In the SSC we currently have 15 Deaf pupils who are all part of a mainstream class. We support primarily in the classroom and offer additional support in the SSC as required.

What you need to succeed
We are seeking to appoint 2 Communication Support Workers (CSW), who have high expectations for Deaf children and are committed to ensuring that every child achieves their full potential in school.
The ideal candidate must have achieved a minimum of level 3 BSL and be willing to work towards Level 6 BSL. Applicants will also need to be competent in English and mathematics.
An ability to contribute to the planning and delivery of the school's BSL curriculum.
An understanding that Deaf children can communicate in different ways. Some of our pupils use speech as their main form of communication, whilst others use British Sign Language.
Previous experience of working in a similar position is desirable but not essential.
