The Department of International Development promotes interdisciplinary postgraduate teaching and research on processes of social, political and economic development and change. The Department is dedicated to understanding problems of poverty and late development within local communities, as well as national and international political and economic systems. The Department is now seeking to appoint aCommunications and Events Manager.
The postholder will support and proactively enhance the Department's reputation through developing, delivering and managing effective events and communication strategies and maximising opportunities for meaningful engagement with the Department's stakeholders. The postholder will develop and implement strategic content-led marketing communications throughout the applicant cycle, across Home/EU and overseas markets, to drive engagement and achieve student recruitment targets, from enquiry through to enrolment. Such targets are directly linked to the Department's overall income and can be clearly measured.
The C&E Manager will line manage and develop members of the Communications & Events team in the Department, and recruit and supervise a wider team of casual workers (e.g. student ambassadors).
Candidate should have:
Degree level qualifications or equivalent professional experience in communications, marketing, public relations, international development, international relations or a related field
Proven experience in developing and implementing strategic communication and engagement strategies across digital and traditional channels
Experience managing and delivering high-profile events (in-person and online), including planning, promotion, delivery and evaluation
A high level of IT skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Adobe Creative Suite
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
