St Agnes Parish Council requires a Communications Officer & Library Assistant to develop first-class communications and support our thriving library. About the role



You will plan and deliver multi-channel communications (website, social media, newsletter and press), to raise awareness and strengthen community engagement; create visual and short-form film content for campaigns, training and information, and report on performance. You'll support library operations-- assisting customers, handling grant applications, helping with events and activities, and keeping our library welcoming, well-organised and responsive to the community. Success requires strong time management, the ability to prioritise and adapt, and a flexible, inclusive approach to meet the evolving needs of the Council and its library service.

What you'll do



Plan, write and schedule website and social media content; produce a monthly newsletter.

Create graphics and short videos; design posters/flyers; draft press releases and news items.

Support community engagement (consultations, surveys, events) and respond professionally to public enquiries.

Provide front-of-house library support and help deliver activities.

Hours & flexibility



20 hours per week on a fortnightly rota, including alternate Saturday mornings in the library; occasional evenings/weekends for events; and covering colleagues' leave from time to time.

Annual leave entitlement is 23 days (pro rata) plus two extra statutory days. The Council is part of the Local Government Pension Scheme (Cornwall Pension Fund - employer contribution currently 19.6%) and all its employees are entitled to join. The position is permanent and has automatic annual pay increases.
