Job Purpose
The Maya Centre is a unique women-only charity based in Islington, offering free specialist counselling and holistic support to women on low incomes whose mental health and wellbeing have been affected by experiences ranging from deprivation and isolation to racism, exploitation, and Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG).
75% of our clients come from Global Majority, migrant, or refugee backgrounds. We adopt specifically intercultural and intersectional approaches to support them in gaining greater voice, choice, and control in their lives.
We offer our trauma-informed services in over 14 different languages, including:
One-to-one psychodynamic and integrative counselling
Group work including psychoeducation and arts therapies
Complementary therapies such as Reiki, massage, and reflexology
Targeted support - Irish Women's and Black Women's Projects
Community outreach and wellbeing workshops (Women's Hub)
We are seeking an experienced
Communications and Digital Media Officer
to support The Maya Centre in delivering our communications strategy.
This role will inspire you if you are passionate about women's wellbeing, equity, and the capacity for individual and collective action--and can bring these values to life across a range of formats, including annual and impact reports, blogs, news articles, and digital fundraising or advocacy campaigns on behalf of The Maya Centre.
The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator and storyteller, able to liaise with a range of staff, volunteers, and service users to bring our work into the public domain. You'll be comfortable communicating directly with a range of stakeholders and working creatively to meet communications goals via our website, social media, and external media channels.

Key Responsibilities
Develop our digital advocacy and fundraising capacity to grow our online presence and increase donations.
Liaise with the Core Team on monitoring and evaluation to collate relevant data and prepare regular impact reports.
Collaborate with the Clinical Team to create engaging, inspirational content for our website, news articles, and social media.
Design and produce high-quality publications that represent The Maya Centre and its variety of services.
Ensure compliance with GDPR and confidentiality policies regarding client data, working closely with the Core Team to maximise data security.
Carry out any duties consistent with the effective management of the organisation, which may include occasional evening and weekend work (for which TOIL - Time Off in Lieu - is offered).
Person SpecificationEssential Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage persuasively with a variety of stakeholders.
Experience in branding and managing social media platforms, including Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
Proven experience in content creation and website management using tools such as Canva, Photoshop, and WordPress.
Confidence in promoting thought leadership, showcasing our in-house expertise, and engaging with topical issues online.
Ability to work independently and proactively, with strong organisational and teamwork skills.
A clear commitment to the principles and practice of equality and inclusion within mental health and wellbeing services.
Desirable Skills
Familiarity with mental health, wellbeing, and/or VAWG services.
Experience working flexibly and creatively within a small charity or community-based organisation.
