Fixed term contract for 12 months.

Full time (hybrid - at least three days a week in the office).

We are looking for a highly motivated Communications professional to join a fast-paced team in a dynamic Department at the University of Oxford. The Communications Officer position is a pivotal role within the Department of Education in what is a newly formed team. We are looking for someone who has a background in communications ideally with experience including social media management, digital communications, media management and editing on Content Management Systems. The position will work on communications for the Department as well as two of our research centres - the Centre for Global Higher Education (CGHE) and the Rees Centre.

The Rees Centre produces research evidence to improve policy and practice in the areas of children\'s social care and education. The Centre aims to improve the life chances and particularly the educational outcomes of those who are, or have been supported by children\'s social care services, with a focus on children in need (including those in care), adoptive and special guardianship families and care experienced adults. The Centre needs dedicated communications support to promote its work, in particular projects which are supported by the Nuffield Foundation.

CGHE is an international research centre focused on higher education and its future development. CGHE\'s research aims to inform and improve higher education policy and practice. The Centre is a partnership for 10 UK and international universities, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council with support from Research England. The Centre\'s 10 research projects integrate local, national and global perspectives, and its researchers are based in nine countries across five continents. The Centre needs communications support for its work including a calendar of events and conferences that take place throughout the year.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the current Communications Manager and Communications Officer in delivering the Department\'s communications strategy, including identifying and developing opportunities to publicise the Department and its centres, and producing exciting and accurate content across numerous channels, including website, print, press releases, social media, digital outlets.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience, and have the ability to produce exceptional standards of communications, including the ability to convey complex material in a lively and accessible way to specifically target the audience. They will have a flexible approach to ensure all aspects of communications are managed by the team, be highly organised with the ability to prioritise effectively between multiple competing demands, and possess a strong track-record of delivering to tight deadlines with a positive attitude. They will have a familiarity with a range of communications channels with an appreciation of the opportunities presented by each. The successful candidate must also have excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, and be comfortable working with a range of relevant IT packages.

This post is a fixed term contract for 12 months in the first instance and is offered on a full-time basis.
