About Us:

THE EXTRAORDINARY STORY OF THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM

Innovation and Change in Westminster City Council is a world of extraordinary stories. Where people use their vision and commitment to open doors for the next generations.

Nothing beats the feeling of helping someone find their passion. At Westminster City Council, our City Lions team helps young local people engage with culture, creativity and dreams. When they came across a lonely, isolated 16-year-old who called himself a failure, they knew what to do. They worked 1-2-1 to find the thing this boy really loved. YouTube, it turned out. But it\'s impossible to turn that into a career, right? Wrong. A week later, he was enrolled on the British Film Institute film-making programme. It was the ultimate light-bulb moment. And it turned him into what he is today - a budding Spielberg with a world of opportunity at his feet.

The Role:

As Project Officer (Communications), you can make your own powerful contribution to extending the reach of life-changing projects - with a big focus on sustainability. You\'ll support the organisation and delivery of events and communications relating to a range of regeneration projects that seek to creatively address challenges facing residents, businesses and visitors to Westminster and London more broadly. In particular, you\'ll enjoy a fantastic opportunity to be part of innovative projects that will change air quality for good.

Joining a diverse team of people who are highly motivated to make our City a better place to be, you\'ll help to make a long-lasting difference and influence behaviour change. Our range of exciting projects - and your range of responsibilities - are highly varied, so you can be sure no two days will be the same. You\'ll provide vital support to project and programme managers, so we can work effectively with public, private and third sector partners to make London a nicer and healthier place to live, work and visit.

We\'ll look to you to deliver a specialist communications service for the Smarter Greener Logistics programme and other projects. This will span everything from our e-newsletter, website and social media, through to press releases and promotional events. You\'ll also develop and produce webinars. Responsible for maintaining, developing and reviewing communications systems, processes and procedures, you\'ll also have the chance to manage small projects yourself. Communicating with our partners and funders will be a key aspect of your role, as you\'ll share knowledge as a champion of our work, practices and impact.

Please refer to the for more information.

About You:

Ideally, your communications experience will include sustainability topics, as this will mean you can really hit the ground running. We expect you to be comfortable with digital and non-digital comms, from social media campaigns, scheduling emails and managing websites, through to running events. We\'d prefer you to be familiar with tools including Canva Pro, Hootsuite, WordPress and Google Analytics. Naturally, you\'ll be a great communicator in person as well as in writing, with the confidence to work constructively and collaboratively with all kinds of partners and colleagues, plus press, PR and media contacts. You\'ll bring to the role a positive can-do attitude, bags of initiative and a passion for making London an even better place.
