Job Description

Description

Position at Confluent Europe Ltd.

Confluent is pioneering a fundamentally new category of data infrastructure focused on data in motion. Have you ever found a new favourite series on Netflix, picked up groceries curbside at Walmart, or paid for something using Square? That\'s the power of data in motion in action-giving organisations instant access to the massive amounts of data that is constantly flowing throughout their business. At Confluent, we\'re building the foundational platform for this new paradigm of data infrastructure. Our cloud-native offering is designed to be the intelligent connective tissue enabling real-time data, from multiple sources, to constantly stream across the organisation. With Confluent, organisations can create a central nervous system to innovate and win in a digital-first world.

We\'re looking for self-motivated team members who crave a challenge and feel energised to roll up their sleeves and help realise Confluent\'s enormous potential. Chart your own path and take healthy risks as we solve big problems together. We value having diverse teams and want you to grow as we grow-whether you\'re just starting out in your career or managing a large team, you\'ll be amazed at the magnitude of your impact.

About the Role:

As a Community Associate at Confluent, you are a driven and well-organised person ready to help cultivate the global Kafka and Flink communities and help it thrive. You are friendly, outgoing, and want to help make an already-successful developer community even better. You are good at keeping track of details (which you\'ll need when you\'re coordinating meetups and other events worldwide) and great at maintaining relationships with a large number of people (which you\'ll need when you\'re getting to know community leaders, meetup organisers, and speakers). You have experience working in a marketing or developer relations team.

Reporting to the Director of Community and working remotely or in the office in an EMEA region, preferably the UK. You will help the team advance its mission: to help earn the love of developers, admins, and architects who are adopting Apache Kafka\xc2\xae, Apache Flink\xc2\xae, Confluent Cloud, and the Confluent Platform.

What You Will Do:

  • Assist in community marketing events and community meetups
  • Attend events in the area of residence to assist with event setup and execution on the day of the event and manage all your respective online events.
  • Assist with sourcing speakers for the community marketing events
  • Support the Director of Community in keeping track of various metrics required by members of the team and stakeholders (eg: Meetup memberships, meetups per city, RSVPs, etc.)
  • Order and distribute merchandise to specific events.
  • Build strong relationships with developers, partners, and key community members both inside and outside the company
  • Provide a friendly and customer oriented experience
  • Conduct post-event follow-up by publishing content to appropriate community channels
  • Support the team with the monitoring of the Digital platforms (Slack, Discourse, Twitter, Github, Stack overflow) and be the first and last point of contact for unhappy community members.
What You Will Bring:
  • Excellent ability to communicate with colleagues and external figures
  • Ability to work remotely and excel in an independent way
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of marketing as a business function
  • A very organised and reliable individual
  • Strong skills with word processing, spreadsheets, email, social media platforms.
  • Ideal but not required experience with hosting Zoom events and Airtable management
  • Unremittingly positive attitude
