Involve is the CVS charity supporting and facilitating community action and resilience. We work with communities, groups, and people to help make things happen and improve the lives of people within communities. We are delighted to be offering this exciting post where you can make a difference within the local Tiverton area as part of our Big Lottery Reaching Communities project: 'Communities that Can'.



Purpose of the Post:



Working closely with the CTC Project Manager, this post will use an Asset Based Community Development approach, to work with local communities in and around Tiverton:



1. Identifying gaps in services and activities, working with communities and other appropriate partners to develop solutions to improve the health, wellbeing, and resilience of individuals in the Tiverton Area.

2. Provide support to voluntary and community organisations and groups whether formal or informal to build their capacity and skills.

3. Enable networking, collaboration and peer support for voluntary and community organisations and community engagement.

Key responsibilities:



To work with communities to identify gaps in services and formal and informal activities.

Listen to people of all ages and backgrounds within the community to understand their lives and aspirations and how they feel about their community.

Identify people who are natural connectors within a community or neighbourhood and support networking and signposting.

Support communities, motivated individuals, and other appropriate partners to develop local solutions.

Maintain knowledge and intelligence of assets and gaps in local provision either through awareness of issues raised from within communities and using CVS intelligence.

To liaise with existing local community forums and networks and social prescribing schemes to support their priorities and objectives.

To provide opportunities for groups to come together to share information, peer support, development, and engagement opportunities.

Support and enable VCOs to build their organisational capacity and development potential.

To provide relevant information, guidance and/or general advice to groups to enable them to deliver their services effectively.

To support VCOs to develop the skills to act as the voice of the sector in a representative capacity at a county level.

Other Responsibilities



To keep accurate evidence of work carried out, using designated tools and guidelines for monitoring and reporting purposes.

To identify opportunities for collective approaches and shared delivery.

To produce case studies as requested.

To actively participate in DeVA partnership activities.

To keep up to date with developments which may affect groups within the not-for-profit sector.

To utilise social media tools to promote the work of Involve and of Mid Devon groups.

Skills / Experience



Essential:



Excellent communication and interpersonal skills especially in engaging and listening to people.

Experience of developing and working with groups.

Ability to treat people as individuals, be understanding of the issues they face and see them as equal to you.

Understanding of the principles and knowledge of the approaches to community engagement

Ability to manage varying interest and potential conflict with confidence and sensitivity.

Experience of working collaboratively.

Ability to work flexibly - both independently using own initiative and as part of a team

Knowledge of statutory, private, voluntary and community groups.

Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.

Good knowledge of Microsoft Office

Knowledge and experience of social media.

Educated to GCSE level or equivalent

Desirable:



Community Organising or Community Development qualification

Understanding of professional boundaries and safeguarding

Understanding and experience of monitoring and evaluation.

Person Specification



Understanding and practical experience of the Asset Based Community Development approach.

Good communicator and facilitator

Able to work independently.

Experience of working collaboratively.

Good understanding of, and commitment to, the not-for-profit sector and community action.

Experience of community engagement principles and their practical application.

Understanding of the governance & management frameworks within which not for profit organisations operate.

Understanding of quality frameworks for voluntary and community organisations.

Ability to work to deadlines and target-orientated workplans with minimal supervision.

Ability to write reports and other documents.

Experience of delivering training an advantage, but not essential.

Driving Licence required.

Mobile working required.

Evening and weekend working occasionally when required.

Pay: 14.21 per hour
