We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Community Caretaker to join our fantastic Estates team working between Chorlton High School and CHS South.
This is a Grade 3, permanent post working 35 hours per week, all year round. The starting salary is 24,404.
Main purpose of the job:
You will carry out general maintenance and repairs in the school, in accordance with the expectation of senior staff, reporting any safety hazards/unsafe practices in and around the building.
This includes undertaking repairs and maintenance to fixtures and fittings and carrying our decoration.
Key responsibilities will include:
To provide maintenance and security services on school sites and premises under the instruction/guidance of appropriate senior staff
To be a responsible Key holder and ensure security of the premises, grounds and its contents including monitoring CCTV or surveillance equipment where appropriate
To undertake and maintain the cleanliness and physical appearance/environment of the designated site - inside and out, including maintenance of specialist facilities and equipment following appropriate training, where applicable.
To maintain high standards of health and safety at all times.
To carry out regular grounds maintenance and cleaning duties, including collecting litter, emptying external waste bins, and ensuring safe access is maintained on the site in periods of severe weather conditions.
To manage designated site staff and ensure that cleaning is carried out by contractors in accordance with specification
To act as a first aider for the school
About the Candidate
We're looking for: We are looking for a dependable and practical individual to join our team as a Caretaker, with the ability to perform a range of duties including cleaning, manual handling, security patrols, basic repairs, and preventative maintenance.
The ideal candidate will have a sound understanding of Health & Safety and hygiene procedures, and either possess or be willing to develop knowledge of COSHH regulations and safe moving and handling practices.
You should be capable of following Health & Safety procedures at all times, using relevant equipment effectively, and undertaking all physical aspects of the role.
A good command of spoken English is essential to enable the effective performance of duties, including the ability to speak with confidence and accuracy, as well as to listen and respond appropriately depending on the audience
This is a vital position that helps ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for all.
