Role Overview



The Community Engagement & Campaigns Coordinator is responsible for strengthening Bournemouth Foodbank's relationships with key community groups while driving campaigns, digital communications, awareness, and community fundraising initiatives.

This role blends community engagement and mobilisation, partnership management, communications, fundraising, events, and strategic stewardship.

You will build long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships with schools, churches, supermarkets, local businesses and wider community groups, while producing digital and in-person campaigns that inspire donations, volunteering, and advocacy.

Key Responsibilities



1. Community Outreach and Engagement



Develop and maintain strong relationships with schools, churches, supermarkets, community groups and local businesses. Represent Bournemouth Foodbank at events, meetings, presentations, assemblies and workshops. Deliver talks, workshops and presentations to raise awareness of food insecurity and inspire community action. Design and deliver projects that empower groups to fundraise, donate, volunteer and advocate. Act as a visible and accessible ambassador for the foodbank across the community.

2. Schools, Colleges and Universities



Establish and nurture long-term partnerships with educational settings across primary, secondary, further and alternative education. Develop and deliver curriculum-aligned workshops, assemblies, educational visits, and ambassador programmes. Coordinate fundraising projects, food drives, challenges, student-led campaigns, and onsite visits. Provide teachers and student groups with resources, guidance and ongoing communication. Support schools to become long-term, multi-year partners.

3. Campaigns, Awareness and Digital Communications



Plan, deliver and evaluate digital and in-person awareness campaigns, highlighting food insecurity and promoting services. Implement local and national anti-poverty campaigns that engage and empower communities, spark public action and support efforts to influence political and systemic change. Organising and Local Mobilisation (OLM), working alongside Trussell Trust's initiatives and messaging on a variety of campaigns. Manage social media platforms for the charity and community Cafe, ensuring regular, engaging, accessible and on-brand content. Produce high-quality written, visual and video content for newsletters, website updates and printed materials. Showcase supporter activity and partner collaboration through storytelling and impact reporting. Producing engaging press releases and following up on communications that enhance the reach and reputation of the charity. Ensure alignment with The Trussell Trust's brand guidelines and messaging. Deliver communications that strengthen supporter relationships across all groups.

4. Events and Community Fundraising



Plan and coordinate community events, including food drives, open days, awareness days and donor events. Support digital fundraising appeals and seasonal campaigns. Identify and apply for small grants offered by supermarkets, retailers, and community funds. Work with volunteers, warehouse teams and partners to ensure smooth operational delivery. Develop engaging community fundraising opportunities for individuals, groups and businesses.

5. Supermarket and Retail Partnerships



Build and maintain effective relationships with supermarkets and retailers to secure ongoing food and non-food donations. Coordinate permanent donation points and seasonal appeals. Maintain strong communication with store managers and community champions. Identify new opportunities for shared campaigns, fundraising and in-kind support.

6. Wider Partnership Management



Identify and secure new community partners including local businesses, faith groups, clubs and organisations. Develop clear partnership agreements ensuring alignment, mutual benefit and clear expectations. Support partners to activate fundraising, volunteering and awareness activities. Build strong, dynamic and mutually beneficial multi-year partnerships that generate income. Contribute to a culture of collaboration, generosity and community impact.

7. Reporting, Impact and Evaluation



Track engagement data, campaign reach, donations, event outcomes and partner activity. Maintain accurate records of relationships, donor interactions and stewardship activity. Evaluate performance and identify opportunities for improvement. Contribute to wider organisational monitoring and reporting requirements.

Key Objectives and Deliverables



Objective 1



Establish a strong suite of community fundraising activities--including partnerships with schools, churches, supermarkets and local businesses, as well as increased individual giving.

Objective 2



Secure and maintain

30 multi-year fundraising partnerships:



10 schools 5 churches 5 supermarkets 10 local businesses
These partnerships should deepen supporter retention, increase sustainable income and create long-term ambassadors for our mission.

Objective 3



Implement a creative outreach and communications programme that strengthens supporter commitment across individual donors, corporate partners, volunteers and community groups, helping to diversify income as an outcome of each campaign or connection.

Person Specification



Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience in community engagement, partnership working or fundraising. Experience managing social media platforms and creating digital content. Strong organisational and event-planning skills. Ability to build trust, nurture relationships and inspire action. Creative storyteller with a strong eye for impactful communications. Confident public speaker, comfortable engaging diverse audiences. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital communications tools. Flexible approach; able to work occasional evenings/weekends. Valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle. DBS check required.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: 14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 37.5 per week
