The Platform Project is an innovative social enterprise with a difference. We work closely with local authorities, education institutions and local employers to bridge the gap between education and employment through our unique concept of a 'training workplace'. We help disadvantaged and vulnerable young people gain the skills, confidence and experience they need to build a sustainable future and launch their career. We specialise in youth enterprise, creative careers and employability skills where young people attend our experiential learning youth-led business sessions to develop their CV, skills, confidence and employability prospects.

We're seeking a

Community Engagement Coordinator (Marketing & Communications)

to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis to drive our external communications, marketing, and stakeholder engagement activities. From managing communications across all channels to building strategic partnerships with local businesses, this is a unique opportunity to be instrumental in connecting with employers, volunteers and key stakeholders to ensure our programmes reach those who need them most.

Office based with some flexibility for home working, this full-time role offers

30,000 per year

, with

37.5 hours per week, 9:00-5:00 Monday to Friday.



In the role of Community Engagement Coordinator you'll be responsible for:



Taking ownership of our external communications strategy including social media management, quarterly newsletters, email marketing campaigns and website content updates. Building and maintaining relationships with local businesses, organisations and community agencies to create sustainable partnerships that support our youth development programmes. Planning and executing events ranging from student engagement activities to fundraising initiatives that raise both funds and awareness for our work. Recruiting and managing community ambassador volunteers and coordinating "friends of the platform" networks to maximise community involvement. Developing grant application skills and supporting fundraising activities to enhance our service delivery and organisational sustainability. Ensuring all safeguarding practices are robustly followed and any issues are dealt with in line with organisational policy.

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:



Previous experience in community engagement, marketing, or events management roles. Ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with a variety of stakeholders. Comfortable approaching new people and representing the Platform Project at networking events and professional meetings. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Teams, plus basic knowledge of email marketing platforms. Passion for supporting organisations with a social impact and keenness to learn and work proactively.

The Role:



This role is central to expanding our reach and impact within the community. We recognise the significant crossover between marketing, events and stakeholder engagement activities and are looking for someone who can see the bigger picture of how these work together to support what we do and create sustainable growth for the organisation. You will work closely with the senior management team to ensure our engagement activities are coordinated, professional, and impactful, making a real difference in young people's lives.
