Job Description

Are you passionate about building stronger, more inclusive communities? Annadale Community Centre is seeking a dedicated and community-minded Community Engagement Officer to join our team on a part-time basis.

This new role is central to our efforts to build cohesion, reduce division, and strengthen relationships across cultures and backgrounds in the Annadale and Haywood areas. It's an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to play a leading role in shaping a safer, more inclusive community - one where people from all backgrounds, ethnicities and cultures feel empowered, supported and welcome.

Key Responsibilities:



Actively encouraging participation from marginalised groups within new and existing programmes at Annadale Community Centre Delivering and arranging training to empower community members, including those from a BAME background, to take on leadership roles inside and outside the Centre (in particular, training in relation to managing volunteers and leadership), with a view to running events and programmes in the centre, including recruiting and managing volunteers Designing and co-delivering inclusive programmes Coordinating projects for all age groups that focus on relationship building, tackling misinformation, and breaking down divisions Leading a two-cohort media literacy project addressing online misinformation around culture and ethnicity Engage and develop working relationships with key groups and stakeholders

Qualifications and Experience



Shortlisting Criteria:



Experience working or volunteering in a community setting. Understanding of issues affecting marginalised communities, including BAME and migrant groups. Ability to engage confidently with a diverse range of people. Excellent communication and organisational skills. Commitment to the values of inclusion, anti-racism and community development.

Desirable Criteria and Qualifications:


These will be used for shortlisting purposes in the event of a large number of applicants.

A relevant qualification in community development, social sciences, or other related fields. Experience in training, leadership development, or volunteer management.

Hours of Work:

16 hours per week. Hours of work will be Monday to Thursday 1pm - 5pm, with flexibility required. Some evening and weekend work may be required.

Rate of Pay:

13 per hour. This role is subject to funding and is currently funded until March 2026.
