About the Role



We are looking for a committed and ambitious Community Engagement Officer to join Centrala and support the delivery of our Community Programme. This role focuses on empowering and integrating Central and Eastern European (CEE) migrant communities in Birmingham and the West Midlands. You will play a key role in developing community-focused activities, strengthening networks, and creating opportunities for migrant communities to engage, adapt, and thrive.

You will lead on community engagement, event delivery, and facilitation of the Community Champions programme, helping build stronger, more resilient communities and supporting access to services, information, and cultural life. This role is a bridge between social support and cultural work, with strong community relationships at its core.

Key ResponsibilitiesCommunity Engagement & Programme Delivery



Organise and deliver inclusive community and cultural events to build connection, reduce isolation, and foster integration. Coordinate and deliver the

Community Champions

training programme, empowering CEE individuals to become local leaders. Deliver holistic advice and information sessions on housing, welfare, life skills, and accessing public services. Develop and support

Community Forums

that build local connections and foster collaboration between migrant and settled communities. Identify and promote training, education, and support opportunities for CEE communities.

Partnership & Network Building



Build and maintain effective relationships with key partners, networks, and stakeholders. Represent Centrala and the community in partnership forums and network meetings. Collaborate with the wider Centrala team to align engagement with broader organisational goals.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Impact



Contribute to the development and implementation of impact measurement tools. Work with senior managers to ensure effective monitoring of activities, outcomes, and community needs. Assist with the preparation of reports for funders and internal stakeholders.

Communications & Outreach



Contribute to Centrala's marketing and communications, including content for newsletters and social media. Help raise the visibility of Centrala's community engagement work and promote events and opportunities.

General Responsibilities



Attend regular team and project meetings. Follow Centrala's policies on equal opportunities, safeguarding, health and safety, and inclusion. Carry out any other duties in line with the post as required by your manager.

What We're Looking For



Knowledge and understanding of Central and Eastern European communities and migrant integration. A good understanding of community engagement principles. Strong ability to build trusted, respectful relationships with diverse communities. Experience in organising events and facilitating group activities. Ability to work flexibly and proactively, both independently and within a team. Strong commitment to social inclusion, cultural understanding, and community-led change. Good organisational and communication skills. Experience with project planning and delivery is a plus.
