Overview



We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Community Engagement Officer to grow and diversify the Council's programme of activities and events. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about bringing the community together and creating memorable experiences from conception to completion.

This is a varied and hands-on role combining planning, marketing, event co-ordination and operational delivery and has responsibility for council bookings, both regular hire and private functions, and events.

It includes managing communications to foster strong community engagement through social media channels and the Council website. The role would suit a creative and organised individual with an exceptional knowledge of communication techniques and a strong interest in digital communications, the ability to craft visuals to develop community cohesion and promote the role of the Council within the community. Whilst predominantly a bookings and community engagement role, there is also a requirement to support our staff team with the day-to-day administration of our busy community facilities.

Key Responsibilities



Operations and Bookings



Administration of the Council's booking package including booking procedures, conditions of hire, testimonials and reviews

Providing excellent customer service, liaise with clients to discuss their requirements in detail, give tours of Council premises and act as a point of contact.

To be involved with the planning, organisation and execution of Council events including coordinating with staff, vendors, volunteers and other stakeholders to ensure successful event delivery.

Ensure legal and statutory obligations for bookings and community events are adhered to including the receipt of safety risk assessments, valid public liability insurance, food hygiene certification and other relevant paperwork as required to minimise risk to the Council.

Community Engagement and Development



Develop and deliver digital content to enhance community engagement and awareness including the management of the Council's social media accounts and website.

Examine the effectiveness of communication and engagement activity and work with the Town Clerk to develop and maintain effective policies around activity eg. scheduling, content, platforms etc.

Undertake community research. Investigate and analyse data to establish basic trends and patterns to create and deliver recommendations to inform Council decisions.

Build and maintain strong relationships with local groups, charities, performers and organisations

Promote the Council facilities to a wide and inclusive audience, encouraging use of the amenities and community participation

Organisation, promotion and delivery of the Annual Town Meeting.

Programme Curation



Curate and coordinate a vibrant calendar of events, activities and classes that reflect the interests and needs of the local community

Collaborate with the Town Clerk and Council to deliver community events

General



General office administration: to answer telephone queries and emails in connection with Council business

To undertake other duties and responsibilities of a similar nature and commensurate with the grade of the post.

To ensure health & safety of resources in connection with the role and personal health & safety responsibilities in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and any subsequent legislation.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: 30,060.00-32,115.00 per year
