About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Age UK NSWD and help grow our fundraising income to support services for older people.
The Fundraiser will deliver and develop a community fundraising programme, including events, local campaigns, and ambassador engagement. The role is hands-on, building relationships with local people, businesses, and volunteers to inspire support, while ensuring excellent donor care and efficient administration.
Working closely with team members across various services (and following strategic direction from the CEO/SLT), the Fundraiser will contribute to delivering agreed annual fundraising targets, developing sustainable local income streams, and raising the profile of Age UK NSWD in the community.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising Delivery
Plan, organise, and deliver community fundraising activities and events.
Recruit, support, and coordinate volunteer fundraising ambassadors (local fundraising champions).
Work with businesses, schools, and community groups to encourage support through fundraising partnerships.
Develop innovative local campaigns to raise awareness and income.
Work to agreed annual fundraising targets set by the SLT.
Supporter Care & Communication
Provide excellent stewardship to donors, supporters, and fundraising volunteers.
Thank supporters promptly and maintain regular contact to build long-term relationships.
Act as an ambassador for Age UK NSWD, promoting the charity and its impact in the community.
Administration & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of income, supporters, and fundraising activities using CRM and data systems.
Monitor fundraising activity, producing reports for SLT, board, and funders.
Maintain stock of fundraising materials and resources.
Ensure efficient use of budgets and resources, maximising return on investment.
Compliance & Governance
Ensure all fundraising activities comply with fundraising regulations, GDPR, safeguarding, and Age UK policies.
Support the completion of any audits or due diligence requirements related to fundraising.
Person Specification
Essential
Strong organisational and administrative skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, able to build rapport with diverse supporters and partners.
Ability to work to income targets and deadlines.
Good IT skills (MS Office, CRM or fundraising databases).
A proactive, creative approach to developing fundraising opportunities.
Full driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.
Knowledge of the local Dorset community.
Desirable
Knowledge of the charity sector and community fundraising best practice.
Experience in community fundraising, events, or income-generating activities (paid or voluntary).
Experience of recruiting and supporting volunteers.
Experience working with businesses, schools, or community groups.
Experience of producing fundraising communications or promotional content including social media
