Job Description

Main Duties as a Community Hall Caretaker

Open and close the hall for events, ensuring security protocols are followed.

Prepare rooms for events (setting up chairs, tables, and equipment as needed).

Monitor the hall during events if required, ensuring safety and proper use of facilities.

To be flexible in covering all Neath Town Council properties which require caretaker activity.

To operate the heating and lighting systems with economy as well as the security and fire alarm systems.

Clean and sanitise hall floors, surfaces, toilets, kitchens, and communal areas.

Empty bins and dispose of waste appropriately.

Monitor and replenish cleaning and hygiene supplies.

Report any maintenance issues, repairs, or hazards promptly.

To ensure all hirers of halls are aware of fire safety procedures and visitor's hall hire information is provided at hall handover.

To work with our other keyholders/cleaners and to cover any annual and sick leave, when necessary.

Main Duties as a Community Hall Cleaner

To maintain a high standard of cleanliness in all areas of the Neath Town Council Halls and Community Centres.

To complete and update cleaning schedules on a daily basis.

To ensure main hall, corridors and surfaces are kept clean which may require use of buffer.

To ensure all carpeted floors are kept clean.

To ensure that the area and steps outside halls are swept as necessary and all litter is removed.

To collect and dispose of all refuse.

To clean toilets and ensure toilet paper and hand towel dispensers are kept full. Liaise with Town Clerk for the ordering of cleaning equipment as and when necessary following set procedures.

To report any repairs or equipment fault when necessary.

Health & Safety Compliance

Follow health and safety guidelines, including safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.

Maintain records of cleaning schedules, inspections, and incidents.

To be familiar with fire extinguishers and to undertake necessary training in the use thereof.

Conduct regular safety checks, including fire exits, emergency lighting, and first aid equipment.

Follow health and safety guidelines, including safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment. Maintain records of cleaning schedules, inspections, and incidents.

Customer Service:



Assist hall users with basic inquiries and directions. Maintain a professional and approachable demeanour at all times.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: 13.47 per hour
