JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking dedicated professionals to join our health visiting team, supporting children and families within a defined community. This role focuses on improving health and life outcomes by delivering care packages following assessment by a Health Visitor.
As part of the team, you will support Health Visitors and Community Nursery Nurses in delivering the Healthy Child Programme (0-5 years)
During your time in this role, you will gain high-quality exposure and training , preparing you to apply for a Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) programme in September 2026, either internally or externally through Bromley Healthcare
If you choose to apply for the SCPHN programme, you must submit a formal application, as this role does not guarantee acceptance. The programme is taught at Level 7 (Master's level) and applicants should be prepared for the academic rigor involved. The selection process is highly competitive, and candidates will need to attend an additional interview in 2026.
As this is a fixed-term contract, if you decide not to apply for the SCPHN programme, your contract with Bromley Healthcare will end in September 2026 .

This is a fixed-term position for a minimum of 12 months , ideal for individuals with a strong interest in children's public health nursing who aspire to a career in Health Visiting.
To Support the delivery of the Local Health Visiting offer, including the Healthy Child Programme.
To work as an independent practitioner within a skill-mixed team. To support staff as needed/required.
To undertake delegated work in a timely manner.
To help identify children and/or families with additional needs, and refer to other agencies/teams for support and intervention as appropriate.
Provide health advice and signpost children and their families to alternative resources within the local community.
To undertake developmental assessments and 6-8 week reviews when trained and competent to do so.
To deliver health promotion activities and targeted interventions to children and their families.
To be aware of and act in accordance with Safeguarding protocols to ensure all children are free from risk of harm or neglect.
To carry out early intervention, safeguarding and multi-disciplinary health referrals when needed.
To carry out home visits to children and their families as part of the identified objectives for their health needs.
Liaise with the GP and other members of the Primary Care Team as appropriate.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
To Support the delivery of the Local Health Visiting offer, including the Healthy Child Programme.
To work as an independent practitioner within a skill-mixed team. To support staff as needed/required.
To undertake delegated work in a timely manner.
To help identify children and/or families with additional needs, and refer to other agencies/teams for support and intervention as appropriate.
Provide health advice and signpost children and their families to alternative resources within the local community.
To undertake developmental assessments and 6-8 week reviews when trained and competent to do so.
To deliver health promotion activities and targeted interventions to children and their families.
To undertake assessments when new children/families move into the area and liaise with the Specialist Public Health Nurse as appropriate.
Undertake pre-school contacts as directed by the Specialist Public Health Nurse and handover to the School Health Team where required.
To be aware of and act in accordance with Safeguarding protocols to ensure all children are free from risk of harm or neglect.
To carry out early intervention, safeguarding and multi-disciplinary health referrals when needed.
To promote and be a champion in home safety for families, to assist with the reduction of accidents to children, respond to A&E notifications and follow-up as appropriate in partnership with Health Visitors.
To carry out home visits to children and their families as part of the identified objectives for their health needs.
Liaise with the GP and other members of the Primary Care Team as appropriate.
To undertake routine new-born blood spot screening, when trained and competent to do so in line with service specification.
To provide feedback to the Health Visitor regarding observations made and problems identified during contacts with families.
To assist in the facilitation of Well-baby drop in sessions, and infant feeding drop-in sessions across the borough. To support with monitoring the growth of babies and children, advising parents on aspects of parenting within a sound knowledge base, and referring to the Health Visitor where there are concerns or more detailed advice is required.
LEADERSHIP / MANAGEMENT SKILLS
Attend team meetings, 1-1 management supervisions, whole service forums, and both clinical and safeguarding supervision.
Work collaboratively with other multi-disciplinary services.
To work in accordance with Bromley Healthcare (BHC) policies and guidelines for best practice.
Ensure equipment is maintained to a safe level and be aware of BHC's health and safety policies.
Manage own time effectively
Attend relevant training, both core-to-role and continuous professional development sessions.
To maintain complete and contemporaneous record keeping standards.
To liaise with appropriate statutory and voluntary agencies in order to access the best possible service for clients.
