Job Description

Are you a passionate and creative Music Therapist looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with life-limiting conditions and complex needs?



We are delighted to offer a newly developed opportunity for a skilled and compassionate Community Kaleidoscope Music Therapis t to join our Specialist Palliative Care Team - Inner Division within our Children's Community Nursing Service.



This is a unique role offering 18 hours per week, worked flexibly across three days. You will deliver specialist music therapy assessments and evidence-based interventions to children within their homes and community settings, working in partnership with families and the wider multidisciplinary team.



Previous experience providing music therapy for children with complex needs is essential.

A passion for working with children and families affected by life-limiting conditions Compassion, empathy, and respect when supporting children and those who care for them The ability to be organised, flexible, and responsive to individual needs Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Confidence working independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team Commitment to inclusive, child-centred practice that empowers families IT literacy - experience using SystmOne is desirable (training can be provided)

Main duties of the job



Provide specialist music therapy assessment and intervention, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records in line with evidence-based principles and best practice



Offer therapeutic support to children and young people with complex medical, developmental and palliative care needs



Work across a range of community settings, including the Palliative Care/Kaleidoscope service, home environments and clinic-based locations



Contribute to specific projects as delegated by the Kaleidoscope Lead



Deliver home and community-based sessions tailored to the needs of children with life-limiting conditions and their families



Provide both individual and group blocks of music therapy to address identified therapeutic goals in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and families



Support the wider Kaleidoscope Palliative Care Team, working closely with Children's Community Nursing and Social Services Child Development Services to ensure coordinated, compassionate and accountable car



You will receive excellent support, including clinical supervision, regular managerial supervision and opportunities for continuing professional development.
