As part of Children, Families and Justice Service, Services for Young People offer support to young people aged 12-26 across Perth and Kinross, we currently have two temporary Community Learning assistant positions until July 2026 to support our care experienced young people increase their school attendance



Based at Scott Street in Perth, you will work alongside staff from Services for Young People, and through using the Youth Work model 'building trusting relationships to help children feel safe and valued' you will become an integral part of young people's individuals plans to support them to increase their attendance and engagement with education.



Assisting in establishing routines and reducing barriers you will support young people to be ready, prepared and motivated to attend or engage with education.



You will be responsible to the Team Leader for Services for Young People.

Skills & Experience Required

Have you a flexible approach to working with young people and have a clear understanding of the issues that affect them? If so, then this role could be for you.



You should be able to evidence the ability to communicate well with young people, professionals and to work independently as well as part of a team.



A knowledge of legislation in relation to child protection and care experienced young people is particularly desirable.



This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with experience in youth work, education, social care, or community development.



The ideal candidate will have:


Experience working directly with young people, particularly those who may be disengaged or facing complex challenges. A strong understanding of the barriers that can impact access to education and services. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A proactive and empathetic approach to building trust and positive relationships
