Casual Car Documentation - The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis, but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use.
DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance - this post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (amended in 2013). Appointable candidates will be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Information provided by you or the DBS will be dealt with in a confidential manner and in accordance with the DBS Code of Practice which can be viewed here. Manchester Adult Education Service's Community Learning team requires a qualified teacher to engage and teach groups of adult learners in a range of community settings across North and East Manchester, including schools, children's centres, libraries and community organisations.
The Community Learning team deliver a range of first-step learning opportunities for adults, including short courses and workshops related to health & wellbeing, confidence, sustainability, volunteering and supporting children in school, as well as Talk English Courses and Clubs .
We are responsive to the needs of local communities and are continuously developing our offer. We work with schools, children's centres, libraries, health services and other community organisations to offer these opportunities across Manchester.
What you will be doing:
Planning and delivering short courses and workshops related to health & wellbeing, confidence, sustainability, volunteering and supporting children in school in community settings.
Planning and delivering courses and conversation clubs that enable people to improve their English language skills, connect with people, places and spaces in their area and build their confidence and study skills to progress onto other learning opportunities.
Liaising with partners, including libraries, schools, children's centres and community-based VCSE organisations, as required to ensure smooth running of the courses.
Encouraging and supporting learners to access community activities to support them to connect with people, places and spaces in their wider area.
Using learning technology to enhance the learners' experience and contribute to the development of high quality online and offline learning resources.
Supporting the curriculum area with promotion of and recruitment to the offer.
About the Candidate
We are looking for someone with previous teaching experience (including voluntary experience), ideally with adults but we are willing to consider transferable skills if you have worked with a different age group.
You will need a relevant teaching qualification, ideally at Level 5 or above, but we are willing to consider applications from people with a Level 3 or 4 qualification who is enrolled on or willing to work towards a higher level teaching qualification within the first 6 months.
