Main duties, tasks & skills required

Successful applicants will be responsible for all aspects of patient care, from admission through to discharge, using a computerised record keeping system.
As the patients nurse you will have the opportunity to attend family meetings, take part in the twice weekly stroke consultant ward rounds and be involved in multi-disciplinary team meetings. These all contribute to the decision making process, goal setting and care planning that facilitates a safe discharge home from Hospital.
Alongside this, you will provide general nursing care to all of your patients, ensuring they are treated with dignity and respect, working alongside the multi-professional team. You will be able to promote a safe environment within the recovery centre and in time work as shift coordinator when required.
Previous stroke experience is desirable however not essential as training will be provided wherever needed.

The post holder will be responsible for the assessment of patient care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of treatment plans. You will be working alongside other professionals within the multidisciplinary team, ensuring high quality care and effective communication is maintained.
This role will require the nurse to practice autonomously and make decisions under their own initiative using past professional judgment and drawing on their clinical expertise.
