This post involves working closely within a passionate and skilled Multi-disciplinary Team, consisting of Nursing, Physiotherapy, Psychiatry, Occupational Therapy, Psychology and Speech Therapy colleagues. A commitment to team working is essential and rewarding.



The post holder should be able to demonstrate excellent clinical reasoning skills, apply theory to practice and communicate effectively with patients, their families, carers and colleagues alike. It is expected that the post-holder will provide effective clinical supervision to junior qualified colleagues, OT technicians and Student OTs and be passionate about this aspect of the role.



The successful candidate will be encouraged to contribute to and utilise reflective practice. You will require current HCPC registration, and appropriate post-registration experience is essential . We welcome applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates

This post requires the post holder to be able to undertake all statutory and mandatory training and post holders must be able to undertake physical interventions.



Work as a member of the North Community Learning Disability Team providing Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention to an identified caseload in addition to care co-ordination responsibilities. Contribute to and lead team discussions and planning of care provision, supporting the team to recognise occupational needs. To be a senior member of the multidisciplinary team providing a service across core team hours: Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 17:00 Work across the Cheltenham and North Cotswold locality service and in partnership with a range of public sector, and third sector providers to support the individual needs of service users.

The post holder will be a senior member of the North Community Learning Disability Team (North CLDT) working with service users in the Cheltenham, Tewkesbury and North Cotswold area. The purpose of the role is as follows:



Provide specialist Occupational Therapy to service users with severe / complex needs and learning disabilities.

Provide evidenced-based Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention to optimise the service users' ability to engage in and maintain meaningful occupations in line with the principles of social inclusion and/or recovery.

Undertake care co-ordination responsibilities for an allocated number of service users.

Contribute to training/support for primary and secondary health care professionals, social care providers and families to enable them to better meet the occupational needs of service users.

Supervise staff at Band 5 and below

Act as lead mentor for students on Occupational Therapy student programmes
