Job Description

To perform occupational therapy assessments of children, young people (CYP) and patients who have diverse physical and cognitive presentations. To formulate and deliver an individual Occupational Therapy treatment program based on a sound knowledge of evidence-based practice and treatment options using clinical assessment, reasoning skills and knowledge of treatment skills including manual techniques, exercise prescription, patient education, and other alternative options. To formulate soundly reasoned prognoses and recommend best course of intervention, developing negotiated patient centered goals. To assess patient, child/YP and families understanding of treatment proposals, gain valid informed consent and have the capacity to work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment.

Evaluate patient progress and treatment programs, reassess, and alter treatmentprograms as required, using recognized outcome measures, assessment tools and clinical skills. When working in the community, working as a lone practitioner with telephone support from a senior therapist if required.
