We are seeking a passionate and proactive
Community Outreach and Engagement Worker
to join our team and play a vital role in connecting with local residents, particularly those who may be experiencing loneliness, isolation, or limited access to services. The successful candidate will support community engagement by visiting homes, promoting activities and services at our community center, identifying unmet needs, and facilitating access to relevant support services.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct door-to-door outreach across designated areas in Penparcau to inform residents about the activities, events, and support services available at the local community centre.
Identify and engage with individuals who may be experiencing social isolation, loneliness, or barriers to accessing services.
Carry out structured conversations and complete surveys to gather data on residents' needs, concerns, and interest in community resources and amenities in Penparcau.
Maintain accurate records and prepare concise reports summarizing findings and identifying trends in the community.
Act as a key point of contact for signposting residents to appropriate services such as:
Digital inclusion support (e.g. learning how to use email, online banking, or access health services)
Citizens Advice Bureau and other local welfare organizations
Social and wellbeing activities hosted by the community centre
Build and maintain positive relationships with local stakeholders, residents, and partner organizations.
Support the planning and delivery of community events and initiatives aimed at increasing engagement and reducing isolation.
Ensure all interactions and data collection comply with safeguarding, confidentiality, and GDPR standards.
To assist with the development of monthly newsletters and initiating local postal drops.
Assist in other marketing initiatives to promote outreach across all resident demographics.
Person Specification
Essential:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage people from diverse backgrounds.
Empathetic, non-judgmental approach and genuine interest in improving community well-being.
Experience of working in a community-based, outreach, or public-facing role.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Comfortable using digital tools (e.g., tablets, Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, survey software, social media) for data collection and reporting.
Basic understanding of the local support landscape (e.g., voluntary sector, health and social care services).
Desirable:
Knowledge of safeguarding practices and data protection regulations.
Experience in report writing and community needs assessments.
Familiarity with the concept of digital inclusion and confidence helping others to navigate basic digital tasks.
Ability to communicate in both Welsh and English.
Full driver's license.
Working Conditions
Based in the office at Penparcau Community Centre, the role involves travel within the village of Penparcau (a valid driver's license or access to public transport may be necessary).
Some evening or weekend work may be required for surveys and community events.
Successful candidate will undergo DBS check
