Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for a paediatric dietitian to work with our team of paediatric dietitians and assistants to deliver the dietetic service to the children and young people on our caseload. The service is provided in a variety of settings including community hospital clinics, special schools, child development centre and patients own homes. Your caseload will be varied and include allergy, nutrition support and enteral feeding. As part of your role, you will have the opportunity to develop your clinical skills. You will regularly be required to travel therefore, access to a car for work purposes is essential.



You will need excellent communication skills to establish and maintain close working relationships with all relevant healthcare professionals and associated organisations to ensure multidisciplinary care that is of a high standard.



In addition to this you will have the opportunity to plan and deliver training to other professionals from a variety of backgrounds e.g. health, education, and social services.



You will be joining our friendly team of dietitians and will be based at the Sir Robert Peel Hospital, in Tamworth .



We are recognised for A, B and C placement student training and are committed to and actively support CPD, clinical supervision, peer supervision and audit.



This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience and contribute to the delivery and development of a community paediatric dietetic service in South Staffordshire.



Delivering a high-quality dietetic service for all infants and children across the paediatric range (0-18 years, and up to 25 years if have EHCP in place)

Delivering dietetic assessment and interventions in accordance with an agreed dietetic service specification.

Be responsible for a caseload of children across a variety of dietetic specialities including home enteral feeding, food allergy and faltering growth.

Provide a dietetic service to children and their parents/carers in a variety of settings including community hospitals and clinics, special schools and patient own homes.

Provide a dietetic service to children with special needs attending Special Schools and the Child Development Centres by working within the multidisciplinary therapy and nursing teams.

Act as a source of expertise on food, nutrition and diet issues for various multi-disciplinary teams, which may include both health and social care professionals.

Provide education and training to patients, healthcare professionals and students.

This is a paediatric dietetic development post. The function of the role is to cultivate the core skills and competencies for a paediatric dietitian and to demonstrate the ability to function in a specialist paediatric dietitian over a 27-month period. You will be expected to complete and work against the competency framework within an agreed timeframe. During this 27-month period you will have the opportunity to work in a variety of different specialities seen within paediatric dietetics including but not limited to enteral feeding, faltering growth, food allergy and intolerance.



You may work in a variety of settings across South Staffordshire, including people's homes, schools, nurseries and special schools.



This is a dynamic post that requires the post holder to work closely with multi-disciplinary/agency teams in addressing a range of health issues with infants and children.
