Community Pastoral Assistant





We require an enthusiastic individual to assist the appropriate Community Leader in supporting students: giving guidance and advice; developing individual education/behaviour plans; helping with problems and reintegration; liaising with relevant agencies and teaching staff; keeping records updated.

Grade 4 25,583 - 25,989 (pro rata 21,548 -21,890 per annum)

What You Need to Succeed

ROLE OF THE COMMUNITY PASTORAL ASSISTANT




To work in partnership with the Community Leaders, and teams in addressing the pastoral needs of students across a community and particularly those who require particular help to overcome barriers to learning. This includes the following:

SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS




Acting as the first point of contact for families of students and making appropriate decisions on how best to follow-up any query that arise Supporting the attendance and welfare officer by keeping accurate records of student absences and taking immediate action for any safeguarding concerns Collecting, receiving and supervising students e Attending to students' personal needs and providing advice to assist in their social and emotional development Assisting the pastoral leaders with the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour/Support/ Mentoring plans Establishing productive working relationships with students, acting as a role model Providing support for distressed students Promoting the effective reintegration of students who have been absent for a while Providing information and advice to enable students to make choices about their own learning, behaviour and attendance Challenging and motivating students, promoting and reinforcing their self-esteem

SUPPORT FOR TEACHERS




Liaising with relevant bodies to gather student information Supporting students' access to learning using appropriate strategies and resources Working with other staff in collecting work for those students who are either internally or externally suspended or excluded or absent from school due to sickness Keeping and updating records as agreed with other staff, contributing to reviews of systems and/or records as requested Dealing with uniform issues Establishing constructive relationships with parents and/or carers Providing clerical and/or administrative support
