About Porlock Vale CIC and the purpose of the role
Porlock Vale has the UK's oldest population, low social mobility, and is among the top 20% most deprived areas in the UK. Porlock Vale CIC successfully provides community support and informational services. With a grant from the Accelerating Reform Fund, we are expanding these services to help residents live and age well locally. We seek an experienced, focused leader with knowledge and experience in the adult social care field, and a strong community background to help shape our support and information programmes for Porlock Vale.
The Role
Porlock Vale CIC is seeking a dedicated professional to join our team and help expand services across Porlock Vale villages. In this impactful role, you'll work directly with families and individuals, ensuring they have the information and support needed to make informed care decisions and remain at home in their community.
Working with the Centre Manager and colleagues, the Community Support Lead will drive delivery of high-quality services and connect residents to vital resources. This practical role supports all aspects of community development. You will:
Contribute to Porlock Vale CIC's ongoing growth as a dynamic, sustainable organisation serving residents and businesses.
Help build and maintain a subscription business model.
Ensure the Information Centre continues as a vital hub for the community.

Serve as the initial, compassionate contact for those seeking assistance or connection.
Listen, respond appropriately, set boundaries, and refer individuals to suitable services.

Share knowledge about available services to support people in their homes and communities.
Build relationships with third-party agencies i.e. Village Agents, Musgrove Park Hospital, Red Cross, and GP surgeries.
Represent Porlock Vale CIC locally, connecting with stakeholders such as community groups, care providers, learning partners, and authorities.
Meet clients to discuss micro-provider options and oversee recruitment and governance of micro-providers.
Collaborate with the CEO to deliver Accelerating Reform Fund goals.
Serve as main liaison between Somerset Cares Alliance and Porlock Vale CIC.
Attend training in community support, bereavement, safeguarding, and signposting.
Contribute to marketing for Accelerating Reform Fund delivery.
Help develop community-based solutions for vulnerable residents.
Support Porlock Vale CIC at events and outreach, promoting its services.
Collect and input data on engagement, referrals, and outcomes.
Assist with reports, case studies, and evaluations demonstrating social impact.
Work with the Project Manager to develop local micro-provider services and create strong links with partners.
Establish administrative procedures ensuring compliance for Micro-providers.
Manage the community membership model, including subscriptions and sponsorships.
Foster effective referral pathways among social prescribers, micro-providers, and local groups.
Working to key performance indicators.
Marketing, membership and communications
Lead on promoting and expanding Porlock Vale CICsubscription model for the Micro-provider Network and building relationships with local individuals, groups, and businesses.
Manage subscription records, monitor progress, and report on growth and engagement.
Support marketing campaigns and community storytelling through social media, printed materials, and Centre promotions.
Ability to work to and achieve KPI/targets.
Safeguarding, support and signposting
Act as a friendly, compassionate first point of contact for people seeking help or connection.
Listen and respond appropriately, setting boundaries and referring individuals to relevant services.
Participate in training for community support, bereavement awareness, safeguarding, and signposting.
Person Specification
Essential
Qualification in a relevant field e.g. health, social care, adult social care. well-being, community services.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - approachable, confident, and empathetic.
Experience in working with local support services, building relationships in a community setting.
Experience in administrative procedures and systems.
Ability to work to KPI's, produce reports, monitoring and feedback.
Excellent IT skills (email, Microsoft Office, spreadsheets)
Organised, able to manage tasks, and competing priorities effectively
Compassionate, trustworthy, and able to set appropriate boundaries.
Energetic, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a small team.
Driving license.
Desirable
Knowledge of local care, health, and wellbeing services.
