We are looking for an experienced part-time Company Accountant/Bookkeeper to handle the control, review, analysis and reporting of all financial aspects of both businesses.
Reporting directly to the business owners, the accountant would assist in the financial decision-making of the company and share responsibility for the finance operation as a whole.
This role would suit an experienced accountant with a hands-on approach, looking for a varied role including all key aspects of accounting, company secretarial and financial management of the business. An experienced individual who is looking to reduce their hours would be a good fit or someone who works for several different clients in a self-employed capacity.
Key responsibilities include:
- Working with our external accountants to produce annual company accounts.
- Processing supplier invoices and monthly supplier payments.
- Managing the payroll.
- Tax and VAT management.
- Annual calculation and payment of publishing royalties.
- Bank reconciliation.
- Debtor management.
- Basic company management functions including utility, insurance and telecom renewals.
Preferred responsibilities:
- Preparation of budgets and forecasts.
- Preparation of management accounts.
Skills and Experience:
- A qualified accountant or with equivalent experience (at least AAT level 3 with proven experience).
- Excellent working knowledge of Sage and Excel - must have extensive knowledge of Excel.
- Experience of dealing with both a partnership and a limited company.
- Good communication skills and the ability to help non-financial colleagues to understand the numbers.
The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate intelligence and integrity and have a commercially focused, proactive approach. You must also be prepared to take on occasional general office tasks if required - it's a small office and everyone pitches in to help out if necessary.
Candidates should be organised, must be comfortable working unsupervised and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills - you will be an important part of a small, friendly team.
This role is based at our office near Ampleforth YO62 4HF. There are no direct public transport links, so you must be independently mobile. Free on-site parking.
Hours: 16-24 hours per week (as required) either entirely in person, or part remotely, in either an employed or self-employed capacity. This job cannot be performed entirely remotely.
