The Role: Complex Care Support Worker.

Hourly Rate: 13.50 per hour

Permanent with immediate start available. We offer the below contracts:

Part time - 20 Hour Contract

Bank - 0 Hours Contract

DBS: DBS preferred.

Driver with access to a vehicle: Preferred

Our team of skilled professionals offers around-the-clock specialised care for people with spinal cord injuries and other complex needs, and we are now looking for like-minded professionals to join us in providing top-quality care that truly makes a difference.

It's important to note that we recruit with a person-centred approach, meaning successful candidates will primarily work on one of our packages based in a single location. However, there is also the potential to work across various packages within the area.

The People in Swadlincote:

Package 1:

Caring for a 15-year-old girl with a rare genetic disease and complex epilepsy. You will provide full moving and handling support. Supporting with seizures and administering recovery medication. Shift times to be confirmed

Package 2:

Providing compassionate care to a young child with challenging behaviour and epilepsy. Your role will involve behavioural management and activity planning. This position includes day shifts with hours on Tues: 10am - 7pm, Weds: 9am - 3pm, Thurs: 4pm - 8pm. This has the potential to change due to client preferences. She loves imaginative play and sensory activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide tailored care to individuals with epilepsy, supporting seizure management, medication administration, and following care plans.

Support individuals with challenging behaviours, using positive behaviour support (PBS) techniques and de-escalation strategies to ensure safety and wellbeing.

Assist individuals with autism, ADHD, and sensory processing disorders, helping to create a calm, structured environment that caters to their specific needs.

Collaborate with families, healthcare professionals, and colleagues to deliver person-centred care.

Encourage and support engagement in social and daily activities, helping individuals increase their independence and quality of life.

Maintain accurate care records, report on progress, and help adjust care plans as needed.

Key Skills and Experience:

Previous experience working with epilepsy and challenging behaviours.

Experience or understanding of supporting individuals with autism, ADHD, and sensory processing disorders.

Strong understanding of positive behaviour support and ability to manage challenging behaviours effectively.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to remain calm and compassionate in high-pressure situations.

Flexibility and adaptability, willing to work a mix of days, nights, and alternate weekends.

A positive, empathetic approach to working with vulnerable individuals.

NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) is an advantage but not essential.

Training:

At Josh's Care Company, we are dedicated to equipping you with the skills and knowledge necessary to become compliant in all areas of specialised care, from tracheostomy and ventilator management to postural and respiratory care, as well as PEG feeding.
